Dear friends, welcome to the “Let’s Speak Armenian” podcast series by Learn Armenian Online project! I am Gohar Martirosyan and this is Episode #2 where we will continue to explore the essential Eastern Armenian vocabulary used to introduce yourself when you’re getting acquainted with people. I remind you that we use situational dialogs in this series so that you know exactly how to use the new words and expressions. As usual, I’ll be making pauses after the Armenian words. PHRASES
Here are several common introduction phrases we will be exploring today. Is this your first time here? Առաջին անգա՞մ եք այստեղ: [arajin angam eq aystegh] Where are you staying? Որտե՞ղ եք հանգրվանել: [vortegh eq hangrvanel]
DIALOG 1 Let’s listen to a short dialog consisting from simple and popular phrases.
— Hi! I’m David. And you are…? Բարև, ես Դավիթն եմ: Իսկ դու՞ք: [barev yes davitn em isk duq] — I’m Narine. Ես Նարինեն եմ: [yes nirinen em] — How are you, Narine? Ինչպե՞ս եք, Նարինե: [inchpes eq narine] — Good, thanks. Լավ եմ, շնորհակալություն: [lav em shnorhakalutyun] — Where are you from? Որտեղի՞ց եք: [vorteghic eq] — I’m from Britain. How about you? Where are you from? Ես Մեծ Բրիտանիայից եմ: Իսկ դուք որտեղի՞ց եք: [yes mets britaniayic em isk duq vorteghic eq] — And I’m from Australia. Nice to meet you, Narine. Իսկ ես Ավրստրալիայից եմ: Հաճելի է ձեզ հետ ծանոթանալ, Նարինե: [isk yes avstraliayic em hacheli e tsanotanal] — Nice to meet you. Փոխադարձ: [poxadardz] — Is this your first time here?
